The International Company for Electronics (Intertec), was established in 1991 with the purpose of importing, manufacturing and marketing of electric and electronic appliances for home and commercial uses.

Intertec activities started by the importation of satellite home entertainment systems, followed by the importation of NEC television sets and brother printers, typewriters and fax machines.

In 1997, manufacturing of Akai television sets was added to the company’s activities and a large facility in the 6th of October city industrial zone was constructed for this purpose.

In 1998, an agreement was signed between Intertec and the Korean giant LG to manufacture and distribute its products in Egypt.  Intertec is currently manufacturing several sizes of LG televisions with a local component amounting to 48.5%. 

In 2002, the Company signed an agreement with Thomson, the French conglomerate to market, distribute and maintain long list of its products in Egypt.

Lately in mid 2002 after long and successful negotiations, Intertec signed a contract entitling it to manufacture, distribute and maintain Daewoo’s electronic products, including television sets, plasma screens and computers.

Intertec owns a large sale and distribution force and maintenance centers covering most of Egypt’s main cities.
